Claire,the whole family was very touched by the tribute you wrote about Mom’s meatballs.I too wrote a memorial for her on Find a grave and mentioned the meatballs, but not with the eloquence you did. Thanks again from all of us.tried your beet recipe, didn’t look like the pic, but turned out really good.

Hi Fran, sorry about the lemon blight. I bought the pricey ones, couldn’t help myself. Had to have some this year. I filled the freezer with juice, & zest, preserved some and then did the marmalade. A bit crazy!
I loved your post on the lox and bagels! Great job!

Meyer lemons are the best, aren’t they? I was anxiously awaiting the crop from my parent’s tree, but there’s been a blight this year. Oh no! They think they’ve gotten it taken care of, but it means no lemons this year. That first shot of lemons makes me want to go to the store and pay the premium price for a bag of them this year though.

I might have to try marmalade.

Thank you….you can also use Butternut Squash/Acorn Sauash like this:

Cut in half, scoop out seeds, rinse,

Put 1 tablespoon of BUTTER in the hole
Add tablespoon of SUGAR atop the butter

Put in Microwave 5 minutes and
another 5 minutes…

Test for doneness with a fork careful not to pierce the skin

Delicious…and some prefer brown sugar..Your choice

Oh my this looks heavenly, I do something with roasted sweet potatoes and apples and those are quite good together, but this quite honestly looks so much more tasty! This is going to be served out of my kitchen very soon.

I’ve made this and it is good. Next year I’ll send you my recipe for Hoppin’ Johns with greens, which is good luck for the new year. I have just about perfected it after 27 years of experimenting!

Thanks Kris! I have many variations as well, I love roasted veggies. This combo is one that comes up over and over again. I hope you enjoy it when you try it!
